BioI came to LJ in order to join, learn from, and contribute to a few communities. I'm not really a social person and I spend almost no time at the computer any more, so please don't be offended if you add me as a friend and I don't add you in return. I want to keep a low profile and use LJ mostly as a way to interact with a few communities.

asperger is my main community. I'm recently self-diagnosed and -- thanks to the support I've received from the community -- seeking a formal diagnosis next week. I'm interested to learn more about this condition and perhaps meet a few others who live with it.
sensedefence is the other one. Many people on the autism spectrum experience hypersensitivity in one or more senses. For me, it's hearing and smell. Levels of noise or chemical fragrance that others don't even notice will trigger a defensive reaction in my system, causing me to go into a sort of shock or become confused and leave. I'm interested to learn more and develop some better prevention and coping strategies.
